Muscle Owl was founded in early 2014. Initially designed as a Twitter feed to amplify the voices of families in the muscular dystrophy community, it quickly grew into a media and campaigns organisation for all neuromuscular conditions, supporting all forms of disability in society.

We were fully funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation throughout 2017, and continue to run as a volunteer led organisation.

Through 2015 to 2018, we hosted a weekly podcast and video chat show, and posted regular updates for the community. With our platforms on Facebook and iTunes, our media has reached over one million people in 90 countries worldwide.
